Welcome to my collection of dual exhaust setups on third generation f-bodies. Every single time I look through f-body related forums theres always someone asking about dual exhaust so here is a collection of setups with some explanations. Most of these pictures have been posted on www.thirdgen.org over the years so much thanks to their message board and users. If you have any pictures you'd like to contribute send them to me at chris88z@gmail.net. Also include any tips/tricks/suggestions, pipe sizes, mufflers used, etc.

Z28 with dual 3" and x-pipe

1992 Z28 with dual 3" into X-pipe and out to 3.5" dynomax bullets. Very clean looking install.
Showing the X-pipe
Side shot showing a pretty decent amount of ground clearance especially considering 3" and 3.5" piping
Car from the rear ....lookin good A++ job in my opinion.

IROC-Z with duals and H-pipe

Another clean install using Hooker Super Comp long tubes and 3" piping. I believe the mufflers are Flowmaster
Its hard to tell from this angle but I wonder why the mufflers are tilted. It appears to make the mufflers look closer to the ground...
Heres how the H-pipe is setup. To me it looks like almost the entire exhaust system is higher than the header's collectors. If thats true then this exhaust is about as good as you can get it.
Lookin' real good here. The person really paid a lot of attention to detail and perfection in this system and it really paid off. A++ job.

Willie's 305 supercharged IROC-Z

Very nice 2 1/2" with X-pipe exiting in the stock location. This is another example of good shop work and thinking.
Another picture showing the X-pipe. The pipes follow along the stock location side-by-side.
Heres how they go over the axle. This is where a lot of people and shops give up but if you do it properly you'll have no problems whatsoever.
2 straight-through mufflers in the stock location
These mufflers are polished Stainless Works 1969 Z28 Chambered Mufflers.
Out the back like stock with 4th gen polished tips. Get more information and pictures about this car by clicking here

Dual 3" with spintech mufflers

Another nice 3" exhaust system using, I believe, Spintech mufflers. This system has extremely nice ground clearance because they notched the subframe to allow the piping to sit up higher.
Here is the notched frame. It looks kinda scary to me even though its been re-enforced. I don't think I have the balls to cut the frame of my car just for the exhaust but it seems to be working for this guy.

Simple 2 1/2" system

I'd suggest this system for a car that more "strip" than "street" its very easy to create but ground clearance is pretty sucky. Hooker Super Comp long tubes, Hedman S-extentions, some pipe, and 2 mufflers. Easy to make, easy to take off and it does its job.
Picture of it off the car.
Shot from behind. I have a similar setup to this and I have about 3" of ground clearance on a good day.

My 2 1/2" simple dual setup

I based this exhaust on the setup above. Hooker long tubes, Hedman s-extentions and Hooker aero-chamber mufflers. With this I have about 3" of clearance which is fine for my car since its not a daily driver. I plan on going with a single 4" system whenever I win the lottery or something. This exhaust setup is LOUD its a total cop magnet
I'm going to weld some turndowns on it eventually. The car still isn't done so I havent gotten to all the finishing touches yet.
Here you can see how the s-extentions are faced.

Side exhaust with no clearance

This picture is floating all around the internet on thirdgen message boards but nobody really has much information about it. Sure it looks cool but it has almost no ground clearance.
I don't think the looks are worth the fact that you have 1" of clearance. This guy must live in a really flat town with no speed bumps or driveways.

2 1/2" duals with the pipes going over the axle

Decent looking exhaust system. This guy actually has the pipes going over the rear axle and exiting in a "proper" location.
He even made his own mufflers. I wonder how tight the clearance is between the panhard bar and support when the car is sitting on the ground though...
This answers my question above. Showing plenty of clearance inbetween the suspension
Very impressive amount of clearance on this system. You can visit www.deadbird.org for more information on this car.
Here is an updated version of his exhaust system. Looks more "stock-like" now.
On the car looks like it shoulda came from the factory that way...

Yet another 2 1/2" duals with H-pipe

Looks like a good job nothing too fancy though
Heres the H-pipe you can see that the exhaust seems to travel down the stock location until it reaches the rear of the car.

Dual 2.5" stock routing

Real good job on this setup. Using shorty headers this system follows the stock pipe routing. The shorty headers also help with ground clearance.
Notice how the routing isn't as complicated as it first appears to be. This could easily be duplicated.
Heres the mufflers out the back in a stock-like fashion
Over-the-axle ...looks good.

Duals with Moroso Spiral mufflers

This system goes from Hedman Long Tubes to Hedman X-tensions to some straight pipe and then into Moroso mufflers.
This picture shows the lowest point in the system. Appears to be pretty livable. Using straight-thru mufflers allows you to run the exhaust up by the driveshaft tunnel which helps clearance out a lot.
Side picture of the car.
Rear view shot. Looks pretty good for not really having any custom work. Apparently it isn't "too" loud either.

Pictures I don't have much details on

I got this picture off ebay I think. Have no information on it but it looks like a good job although the pipes look awful close to the fuel lines in certain areas.
This guy cut out his floor pans and modified them to tuck the mufflers under the car better. I don't like the idea of cutting up a car especially for exhaust purposes ...but, whatever floats your boat.
Very nice dual setup using oval tubing and sidepipes. This is by far the best sidepipe setup I've ever seen on an f-body.
Looks alright but that passenger side muffler is way too close to the fuel lines.
Dual 3" going underneath the rear axle. This guy has southside bars which probably gave him a lot more clearance to route the piping since he has no torque arm.
I believe this is a 4th gen but its still pretty much the same underneath as a 3rd gen.
